The History of Electric Cube Vans

The history of electric cube vans is not very impressive when all things are considered.  When you take a look at everything else that is available on the market today in regards to electricity powered vehicles, what you should notice right away is that electric cube vans really have nothing on most of the other commonly-used vehicles around.

That having been said, there are two periods in history in which these types of vans have really started to be looked at prior to the previous day.  One example of such a time was during the late 19th century.  At this point, everyone was experiencing with the creation of electric vehicles and with the introduction of refrigeration on cube fans, creating them to run on electricity was actually something that made a lot of sense.  Subsequently, the cube van fleets of the world switched over to the internal combustion engine like other vehicles and the idea was eventually abandoned.

The next big period of time during which electric cube vans were experimented with would have to be the 1970s.  During this period of time, OPEC raised the world price of oil from three cents a barrel to over twenty cents a barrel overnight, killing many of the gas-powered western nations in the process.  As severe rationing kicked into gear, many companies started once again experimenting with using electric cube vans for their fleets.  Oil eventually came back down to earth and the innovations have largely been dormant to the present day.
